Development of an OLAP Based Fuzzy Logic System for Supporting Put Away Decision

    Get PDF
In today‘s rapidly changing and globally volatile world, manufacturers pay strong efforts on conducting lean production, outsourcing their components, and management on the complex supply chain. Warehouse management plays a vital role to be a successful player in the any kinds of industry which put-away process is a key activity that brings significant influence and challenges to warehouse performance. In this dynamic operating environment, minimizing the operation mistakes and providing accurate real time inventory information to stakeholder become the basic requirements to be an order qualifier. An OLAP based intelligent system called Fuzzy Storage Assignment System (FSAS) is proposed to increase availability of decision support data and convert the human knowledge into system for tackling the storage location assignment problem (SLAP). To validate the feasibility of this proposed system, a prototype will be worked out for a third party logistics company

T5lephone: Bridging Speech and Text Self-supervised Models for Spoken Language Understanding via Phoneme level T5

In Spoken language understanding (SLU), a natural solution is concatenating pre-trained speech models (e.g. HuBERT) and pretrained language models (PLM, e.g. T5). Most previous works use pretrained language models with subword-based tokenization. However, the granularity of input units affects the alignment of speech model outputs and language model inputs, and PLM with character-based tokenization is underexplored. In this work, we conduct extensive studies on how PLMs with different tokenization strategies affect spoken language understanding task including spoken question answering (SQA) and speech translation (ST). We further extend the idea to create T5lephone(pronounced as telephone), a variant of T5 that is pretrained using phonemicized text. We initialize T5lephone with existing PLMs to pretrain it using relatively lightweight computational resources. We reached state-of-the-art on NMSQA, and the T5lephone model exceeds T5 with other types of units on end-to-end SQA and ST

Genomic priming of the antisecretory response to estrogen in rat distal colon throughout the estrous cycle.

    Get PDF
The secretion of Cl(-) across distal colonic crypt cells provides the driving force for the movement of fluid into the luminal space. 17beta-Estradiol (E2) produces a rapid and sustained reduction in secretion in females, which is dependent on the novel protein kinase C delta (PKC delta) isozyme and PKA isoform I targeting of KCNQ1 channels. This sexual dimorphism in the E2 response is associated with a higher expression level of PKC delta in female compared with the male tissue. The present study revealed the antisecretory response is regulated throughout the female reproductive (estrous) cycle and is primed by genomic regulation of the kinases. E2 (1-10 nm) decreased cAMP-dependent secretion in colonic epithelia during the estrus, metestrus, and diestrus stages. A weak inhibition of secretion was demonstrated in the proestrus stage. The expression levels of PKC delta and PKA fluctuated throughout the estrous cycle and correlated with the potency of the antisecretory effect of E2. The expression of PKC delta and PKA were up-regulated by estrogen at a transcriptional level via a PKC delta-MAPK-cAMP response element-binding protein-regulated pathway indicating a genomic priming of the antisecretory response. PK Cdelta was activated by the membrane-impermeant E2-BSA, and this response was inhibited by the estrogen receptor antagonist ICI 182,780. The 66-kDa estrogen receptor-alpha isoform was present at the plasma membrane of female colonic crypt cells with a lower abundance found in male colonic crypts. The study demonstrates estrogen regulation of intestinal secretion both at a rapid and transcriptional level, demonstrating an interdependent relationship between both nongenomic and genomic hormone responses

Designing CALL for learning Chinese characters

    Get PDF
Despite the enormity of its quantity, printed or written forms of Chinese characters are composed from a limited number of common components. For example, the characters for pond( ), lake( ), stream( ), river ( ), sea( ) and ocean( ) all contain a component in common, a three-dot component representing water. When this clue is explicitly highlighted to students, the learning of Chinese characters can be greatly enhanced. Using a computer to help students to develop this kind of structural awareness about language learning has not yet been thoroughly examined. This paper reports on the design of CALL software based on a pedagogic method which helps students to develop the higher order skills to analyse and categorise Chinese characters by using components. The result of the classroom experiment has shown supportive evidence on the feasibility and the need of integrating the software with an affective and contextual way of teaching Chinese characters.postprin

Adiponectin is protective against oxidative stress-induced cytotoxicity in amyloid-beta neurotoxicity

    Get PDF
Oral PresentationBeta-amyloid (Aβ) neurotoxicity is important in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathogenesis. Aβ neurotoxicity causes oxidative stress, inflammation, and mitochondrial damage resulting in neuronal degeneration and death. Oxidative stress, inflammation, and mitochondrial failure are also pathophysiological mechanisms of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) which is characterised by insulin resistance. Interestingly, T2DM increases risk to develop AD which is associated with reduced neuronal insulin sensitivity (central insulin resistance). We studied the potential protective effect of adipon…published_or_final_versio
